2018 Summit Highlights
On October 9 and 10, DLA Piper's Technology Sector hosted its 6th Global Technology Summit, with more than 450 industry leaders attending the event in Menlo Park.
The Summit was divided into two distinct days of programing. The first day, which was called "Garage2Global," was dedicated to providing entrepreneurs, emerging-technology professionals and investors from all stages of the investment community with insights into the legal and business foundations needed to drive sustainable growth and take companies from "garage to global." It offered something for everyone whose business is rooted or involved in, or influenced by, Silicon Valley or the Valley-adjacent ecosystem. Critical technologies like Blockchain and artificial intelligence surfaced as themes from multiple panels. Learn more about Garage2Global.
The second day, which was entitled "TechLaw," provided in-house counsel and leaders from mature technology companies with updates on the latest trends impacting legal departments. It began with a welcome from Jay Rains, global co-CEO and US co-chair of DLA Piper, who noted that in-house counsel of innovative tech companies are moving much faster than government regulators, creating a reactive environment focused on protectionism, rather than one in which parameters are being established proactively.
